7. Children's Level
Third Floor
The Bellamy children resided on this level, and the windows in the walls helped with light and airflow as this floor is in the roof of the house. The “stage” at the south end was Ellen D. Bellamy’s favorite play place as a child. At the north end are the tank room, which held water for the bathroom, and a small room which may have been occupied by the enslaved nanny, Joan, if she did not sleep in the slave quarters. The youngest Bellamy children including Ellen, John Jr., George, Chesley, and Robert may have all shared the rooms on this floor when the family first moved into the home.
