Help Support Our Supports with the Column Restoration Fund.
Since the Bellamy Museum site was donated to Preservation North Carolina over thirty years ago, we have made every effort to keep the house and slave quarters standing so future generations can experience history. This site is an iconic part of the Wilmington landscape. The house’s architectural beauty is only surpassed by the story it tells.
This year, we are doing some vital maintenance on the mansion roof that was damaged by Hurricane Florence. But we have come across a problem. The columns that have supported the roof for 160 years are also in urgent need of repair. We want to keep it in the best condition for the next 160 years. This spring, as we fully reopen, we are launching an appeal to fix our columns. We’d like you to provide the support for this historic house. There are fourteen columns and restoration is estimated at $70,000. Some columns are more in need than others, but if we can raise the money, we will be able to make all fourteen as good as new. We invite you to be part of this monumental endeavor. Please consider a gift that will make a very real difference. No matter the size, every gift will get us closer to restoring the columns. Sponsor a column for at least $5,000, and you will be a part of our new Column Club and a part of the history of this site! Members of the Column Club will have their name placed on the base of a column of their choice. They will be part of an exclusive group of donors and can attend special member events throughout the year. To make a donation online, fill out the form to the right, and you can pay via PayPal, Venmo, or with any major credit card. If you have questions about this particular project, please contact our executive director, Gareth Evans, at gareth@bellamymansion.org. Thank you for your continued support of the Bellamy Museum. |

Carole Bohrer Memorial Fund

April 16, 1936 - February 15, 2018
Though originally from northern New York, Carole's true home became North Carolina. The region's dulcet temperatures, gentle light and pastoral beauty provided a bountiful template for her many passions. Few of these greater than her love of music, especially jazz, its artistic expression and abstractions most closely matching the spirit, joy and freedom with which she lived her life. Carole was happiest sitting beneath the limbs of the graceful trees that envelop the Bellamy Mansion Museum, surrounded by friends, the garden fragrances adding their sensory bouquet to the notes as they soared on their skyward journey.
Any monetary donations made in Carole's name will benefit the Bellamy Mansion Museum's educational mission, particularly her beloved Jazz at the Mansion series of which she was a devoted volunteer. Since 2019, the entire Jazz at the Mansion Series has been dedicated in the spirit of Carole. Please make reference to the "Carole Bohrer Memorial Fund" when donating.

The 1972 Legacy Society
In February 1972, Lillian Maxwell Bellamy Boney (1925-2019), Emma Bellamy Williamson Hendren (1902-1992), and Hugh MacRae II (1924-2018), three of John and Eliza Bellamy's great-grandchildren, founded the charitable entity Bellamy Mansion, Inc. to ensure preservation of the site. They later helped with the property's transition to Preservation North Carolina, went on to all serve as life members on the Museum's Board of Directors, and all left lasting legacies through their philanthropic commitment to the Bellamy Mansion Museum.
